Connection Skills for Coaches
When I first started, finding new clients felt like a search for a needle in a haystack. There’s a lot of advice out there about networking, social media, and content, and it left me feeling like I had to become a marketer before I could be a coach!
But what if the key to finding clients wasn’t in some complex sales system but in the very skills you already possess? What if the path to a full practice was to find and start conversations with people who need your help?
I believe that coaching happens in a container of trust, honesty, and respect. The moment we try to lure people into a “funnel” to sell them something, we start the conversation from a place of adversarial thinking, not co-creation. It’s a disconnect. It feels inauthentic, and frankly, it undermines the very trust we need to build a coaching relationship.
I’ve learned that connection skills are our most powerful business-building tools, and the best part is, you have those skills! When we are genuinely curious and leaning into that curiosity, rather than trying to convince anyone of anything, clients are drawn toward us. This isn’t selling; it’s simply meeting people and serving them. And it’s the way I’ve filled my practice.
In this free webinar, let’s explore this idea together. We’ll cover:
- How to find and start conversations with people who need your help.
- A different way of thinking about how coaching is “sold”. Since no one truly needs coaching, they have to want it. This requires a different approach.
- The importance of a professional posture. Who you are being matters more than what you are doing.
Join me September 15th at 3 PM (Central Time) for this free webinar. This session is for anyone willing to try new things and experiment in a spirit of playfulness and discovery. I’m inviting you to come along and explore a more human way to build your practice.
