How does each score reflect the way you perceive yourself in that area? If it’s significantly different, what does that mean to you? Take a look at your highest score. How could you leverage that strength more frequently? Take a look at your lowest score. How is that inhibiting your leadership? (Remember, we’re leaders in all phases of our lives: work, community, socially, and at home.) Overall Self-Leadership ScoreYour Overall Self-Leadership Score(Out of 50)Self-leadership is the foundation of all leadership. Focusing first on leading yourself gives you a solid foundation to remain focused on your goals regardless of the circumstances. Strengthening your self-leadership benefits not just your work but your personal life, too. By taking care of yourself and your most important relationships, you’re free to engage fully in your work during work time and then switch your focus once work is done. If your total score is above 37, you have achieved a high level of self-leadership. Review your component scores to see if you have a weak area you want to improve, but otherwise, it’s time to move on to focusing on leading others! If your total score is between 37 and 30, your self-leadership is good, but there might be one or two areas with scores lower than the others. Focus on that area could yield significant results. If your score is below 30, there are likely several areas where improvement is possible. When you read the descriptions below, is there one area that stands out as one that, if improved, would give you substantial benefits? Focusing on that one area first should enable rapid growth. Resilience & Growth MindsetYour Resilience & Growth Mindset Score(Out of 10)Higher scores in this category reflect an ability to bounce back from adversity, hardship, stress, or challenges. Those with scores greater than 4 but less than 7 could benefit from reflecting on times when they could bounce back from adversity in their past. What happened? What did you need? How could you develop those resources in your current circumstances? Those with scores below 4 should consider prioritizing additional self-care and time off. Putting some juice back into your battery may improve your resilience. Psychological Capital (PsyCap)Your PsyCap Score(Out of 10)PsyCap scores reflect your outlook on life. Higher scores indicate that you have a positive mindset and a high capacity to deal with challenges. Those with scores greater than 4 but less than 8 could cultivate hope by setting meaningful but realistic objectives, enhance efficacy through skill-building and positive self-talk, and nurture optimism by reframing negative thoughts. Those with scores below 4 should consider prioritizing just one of the components (hope, efficacy, or optimism) and work on increasing their capacity in that area. Emotional RegulationYour Emotional Regulation Score(Out of 10)Higher scores in this category indicate that your emotions are manageable. They are unlikely to derail you from achieving your objectives. Folks with lower scores are likelier to see their emotional states interfere with their relationships and daily tasks. Those with scores greater than 4 but less than 7 could focus on being more aware of their emotions as they develop. What do you notice in your body? By increasing your awareness of your feelings, you can start choosing how to respond. Those with scores below 4 should consider reviewing situations after the fact. What triggered that emotion? Where is that trigger coming from? By paying attention to these questions, you can build awareness before the emotion erupts. MindfulnessYour Mindfulness Score(Out of 10)High mindfulness scores indicate that you can be fully present and engaged in the present moment without judgment. Lower scores can reflect thoughts that tend to journey into the past or the future, resulting in unproductive thinking. Those with scores greater than 4 but less than 7 could practice meditation or watch their thoughts and try to restore them to the present moment. Those with scores below 4 should consider working first on nonjudgment. Instead of labeling activities or events as “good” or “bad,” consider taking a more neutral stance. Instead of thinking, “Oh, that’s a disaster,” it could be, “Oh look, that’s a thing that happened!” Creating a little distance can help you see options or choices you would otherwise miss. Focus & PrioritiesYour Focus & Priorities Score(Out of 10)High scores in this category indicate that you can maintain focus on what’s most important. Those with lower scores might indicate that you get sidelined or distracted by fighting fires or shiny objects to an extent that limits your progress. Those with scores greater than 4 but less than 7 could work on optimizing their workplace to eliminate distractions. Turn off notifications on your phone or computer, shut down your email when you aren’t actively processing, and use block scheduling to maximize your focus time. Those with scores below 4 should consider setting a limited number (3 – 5) of achievable daily goals to focus on completing. Also, review your calendar and rearrange your week to create longer blocks of uninterrupted focus time to get things done. Next step: To improve your focus and priorities, get clear about what your most essential roles are and, within each role, what activities create progress. Then, build a schedule for your ideal week and begin the process of implementing it. Focus and priorities are a function of your willingness and ability to say no.EmailPlease enter your email below to have a copy of your results emailed to you.
