A different kind of conversation about leadership
I’ve watched leaders navigate the narrow path of constant decisions—firing off quick replies, rushing past the quiet tension in a team member’s voice, and carrying the weight of a hundred unresolved threads. It’s lonely. And it’s heavier than it needs to be.
I’m here to invite you to set that weight down for a moment.
That’s why I write these emails. Not to add to your to-do list, but to help you eliminate the rocks in your shoe—the unspoken tensions, the misaligned expectations, and the baggage we carry alone.
Each week, I share an observation or a story to help you navigate:
- Mindset: Choosing a lens that focuses on what you gain through challenges rather than just what you’ve lost.
- Presence: Why focusing on one thing at a time actually resolves problems so they don’t come back to haunt you.
- Leadership: How to build a “fireproof” team by modeling clarity, vulnerability, and empathy.
A small gift before you join
Since you’re here, you’re likely looking for a way to lighten the load. I invite you to take 60 seconds to sit with these three questions. They often help my clients find the “question behind the question”:
- What is one “weight” I am carrying that actually belongs to someone else on my team?
- If I stopped rushing for just 10 minutes, what hidden tension would I finally have the space to notice?
- Where am I “pushing the river” today instead of noticing where the water is already moving?

If those questions sparked a new thought, you’ll find value in these weekly reflections. They are an invitation to lead with more agency, more joy, and a lot less weight.
The only email you’ll look forward to!

Here are a few comments I’ve gotten from other business owners in this conversation:
“You are talking to me! Looking forward to next Tuesday!”
“Such great, encouraging words Brad. Thank you!”
“Great points Brad!! They are all true. A couple of them I needed to hear today too ;)”
“Hi Brad. I only subscribe to one business-related blog – YOURS. I am so ecstatic to receive every one of your emails.”
WHO IS THIS “BRAD” ANYWAY?
Oh, that’s me! I have been working with small business owners since 2001 and have seen measurable improvements in the businesses (and lives) of hundreds of leaders and founders like you. I focus on practical solutions and tools that can help you solve not just today’s problem but provide a way of thinking about your issue that can help you far into the future.
