We don’t know what we don’t know.
I sat down today to write about uncertainty, but I’m not making much progress.
Why? Well, I’m not sure what to say .
On the one hand, we’ve been living with a lot of uncertainty all year.
- Uncertainty about our health and the health of those we care about.
- Uncertainty about our businesses, what’s changing in the marketplace.
- Uncertainty about our recreation, travel, and social activities.
For many of us, the uncertainty is draining. We’re tired of coping without the coping strategies that have worked for us.
When can we get back to eating with friends, traveling to see family, going to sporting events, live music, or church?
We just don’t know.
On the other hand, it’s not like we’re in a catastrophe!
Yes, it’s exhausting, but work is still coming in, we’ve had more family time and a more pared-down schedule than we had before. Yes, some things make this time difficult – but there were difficulties in the before time too!
Maybe the discomfort I feel is just anxiety about the future. Worry doesn’t do much for me. What if I just let that go?
How are you feeling about the future right now? If you’ve started your 2021 planning, how are you setting goals and forecasting through the clouds of uncertainty? Hit reply and let me know.
