I read a remarkable book recently that I can’t stop thinking about.
A Psalm for the Wild-Built is a short, beautifully written story that imagines a future in which humans set the robots free for 200 years and then come back into contact again.
One quote, in particular, has stuck with me. A robot and a monk travel together for some time, and after experiencing the monk’s insecurity, the robot turns and says,
You keep asking why your work is not enough, and I don’t know how to answer that because it is enough to exist in the world and marvel at it. You don’t need to justify that or earn it. You are allowed to just live.
Can you take that idea in today?
