Undermining The Resistance
On Tuesday, we talked about how we all have a voice that tries to undermine any changes we make or steps we take toward our goals. And the more important the goal or significant the step, the more resistance we feel!
In my battle with The Resistance, one practical step has made the biggest difference for me. I can frequently defeat The Resistance by taking steps now to make it easy for my future self to do the right thing.
Let me give you some examples.
- I lay my workout clothes the night before. Then in the morning, I’ve already made the decision that I’m going to the gym. I just get dressed and go.
- When I’m making a reminder for a business development follow-up call, I add the prospect’s phone number and a link to my notes for that conversation to the reminder. When the reminder pops up, I’m ready to call. No excuses.
- I create a content calendar a month at a time, so when I have my writing appointment on my calendar, I can sit down and know exactly what I need to write.
Take some time this week and see if you can spot where The Resistance is attacking. How could you have made removing hesitation, fear, or uncertainty easier so your momentum stays high?
